One of Sabah’s top performing schools, SM St. Michael experienced again, the flood after the incessant 18 hours of heavy rainfall on June 27.
The Monsoon season is again here. Yesterday, the rain fell persistently for 18 hours, hence causing floods at several areas / districts at Sabah’s west coast. Cautiously driving to one of the affected districts, Penampang, today, I saw that the Petagas river was swollen and have encroached into a farming land near its banks. The current was strong and scary. Drains along the roads in Penampang were also filled to the brim and overflowing at some parts causing some roads to go underwater. Homeowners could be seen cleaning their premises, some even seen throwing damaged furniture. Fortunately, the rain rested today, otherwise, the flood water will raise further.
