KOTA KINABALU: City Hall Kaamatan Unduk Ngadau, Kerinah Mah, emerged as the champion in the State Level Unduk Ngadau competition yesterday.
Kerinah, who was the tallest of all the 44 contestants told the master of the ceremony during the question and answer session that it was her dream to join the Unduk Ngadau pageant and that if her parents disallowed her from joining, she would persist by showing them the beauty of the pageant and its importance for the preservation of tradition.
She won the coveted prize amounting RM73,310.00 and brought home a trophy and an ATI scholarship worth RM25,000 as well as ALMACREST scholarship worth RM20,000.
In addition, she also won a return air ticket to Bangkok and RM6,000 cash as well as other prizes.
Shareene Francis Loudin from Penampang won the second prize amounting RM11,480 in all.
One of the sweetest looking contestant at the competition, she brought home a trophy, RM4,000 cash prize, hampers and others.
Papar representative, Arveyna Pamella Januin @ Abdon won the third prize of RM9,660 comprising of a trophy, RM3,000 cash prize and others.
Angel Sungkadhamai Marshal @ Linus from Likas won the 4th place while
Bibiana Artecca James (Tambunan),
Sharlina Gilbert Mojinun (Klang Valley) and Vanessa Claria (Tuaran) emerged as the 5th, 6th and 7th winners respectively.
The prizes were presented by the wife of the Huguan Siou and Deputy Chief Minister, Puan Sri Geneive Kitingan and Datin Seri Stella Malakun.
