I am peering at the ratings given to Tam Nak Thai by the tripadvisor website and I wonder about the three star ratings given. I wonder about it because I love the food there. So far, they have yet to disappoint me and my family but it could also be because we basically order the same dishes which is Seafood Tom Yam, butter prawns or chicken and some vegetables. Pricing wise, it is a bit on the expensive side, particularly for locals, which probably explains why the eatery is often without guests. In spite of pricing, as a family we do try to go there, particularly during special events such as birthdays or when there is something to celebrate.
As a fan of Tom Yam, I find the Tom Yam served at Tam Nak Thai to my liking. It is something that I must order whenever I bring my three children there. During the birthday celebration of my two sons (who share the same birth date, we ordered more than the usual and we included the squid (pictured above) as well. Needless to say, we all left the plates squeaky clean.
One thing to love about Tam Nak Thai is the privacy. I love the kampung styled furnishings, the sarong art work, and of course, the delicious cuisine. I have not been to Thailand, so I am not sure if what is served there is authentically Thai, but I know this — I love most of the dishes I order and so do my children.
I often need to wave several times before the waiters or waitresses see me, but that could be because I prefer a more secluded sitting area. But I have no complaints.
